Production of Three Varieties of Lilium (Lilium sp.) Using Nitrogen Fertilizers Applied via Fertigation in a Greenhouse in Chicani-La Paz

Abstract

Lilium (Lilium sp.) cultivation represents an agricultural opportunity; however, the lack of technical data for greenhouses in the La Paz valleys limits the productive capacity and economic returns of small- and medium-scale flower growers. The objective of this study was to evaluate the agronomic performance of three lilium varieties (white Eyeliner, yellow Cevennes, and purple Dinamix) under fertigation conditions in a greenhouse in Chicani, La Paz. A completely randomized block design with a two-factor arrangement (3×3) was used, with nine treatments and three replicates, considering the varieties and fertilizers (urea, Molivic, and a control without fertilization) as factors. Phenological, vegetative, and reproductive variables were evaluated, including days to emergence, days to flower bud formation, number of flower buds, plant diameter and height, and flower bud diameter and length. The results showed that there were no significant differences among varieties in days to emergence, flower bud diameter, and flower bud length, indicating stability in these traits. However, the “Eyeliner Blanco” variety had greater plant height, while “Dinamix Morado” had the highest number of flower buds. Regarding fertilization, the application of urea significantly increased stem diameter and the number of flower buds compared to the control. It is concluded that nitrogen fertilization improves the agronomic development of the crop under greenhouse conditions.
