The problem addressed by the present work refers to the natural germination of majo (Oenocarpus bataua) and asaí (Euterpe precatoria) seeds, since it is a slow process. The objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of different pregerminative treatments (soaking in water and heat treatment) on majo and açaí seeds to improve germination. For this purpose, majo and asaí seeds were collected in the department of Pando, Bolivia. Five treatments were used: control, soaking in water for 24 and 48 hours, and heat treatment at 59°C for 8 and 16 minutes. The seeds were sown and the germination percentage was evaluated. The results obtained were for Majo: the combined treatment of soaking and heat treatment at 59°C for 16 minutes resulted in the highest germination percentage, while for asaí, the heat treatments at 59°C for 8 and 16 minutes were the most effective, followed by soaking for 24 hours. The results indicate that pregerminative treatments, especially thermal treatments, can significantly improve germination of majo and asaí seeds. The combination of soaking and heat treatment was found to be the most effective for majo, while heat treatment was the most effective for acai. These findings provide a solid basis for developing propagation protocols for these species, contributing to their conservation and sustainable use.
