The objective of this research was focused on the description of potato varieties cultivated in the 10 communities of the Choquecota Basin of the municipality of Palca-La Paz, Bolivia; its importance lies in improving the knowledge of potato genetic diversity. The methodology of this research is exploratory, descriptive and explanatory. Seventy-eight potato samples were used in the amount of five tubers per sample. The genetic material was collected from different communities that are part of the Choquecota pedagogical basin of the 2021 harvest. The morphology was described using potato descriptors and Huamán's color guide (2008). As a result, 43 varieties were identified (39 with native/commercial descriptors, and fourwith identification but no description), from a total of 78 samples obtained in the 10 communities; comparing with 3 catalogs and a thesis, we have 37.2% of the varieties coinciding and 62.8% not coinciding.
